Can you believe we’ve been quarantined for over two months now? Some days feel longer than others, but for the most part I still have no idea where my days go! In the beginning Cole and I spent a lot of lazy nights on the couch. It was really fun, but it did become repetitive and a little boring. We’ve recently made more of an effort to have little date nights a few times a week to give us something to look forward to. It has actually been a lot of fun coming up with things to do and I think it’s really brought us closer together. So, whether you live with your significant other or not, I thought I would share some of our quarantine date night ideas with you!
Go For a Sunset Drive
This one is great because it gets you out of the house. A change of scenery is always nice; especially if you live in a small apartment like we do! By going for a drive you can get some fresh air and be with each other without any distractions. You could drive around the city or even go for a country drive if you’re looking for a more peaceful vibe. We usually like to bring a coffee or tea with us for the trip and listen to music too.
Have Happy Hour at Home
If you’re both working from home, having an at-home happy hour is the perfect way to signal the end of your workday. You can stick with your signature drink, or try out some new recipes! Take even half an hour to an hour to chat about your workday and decompress from the day. It really helps make the transition from work to downtime easier since you no longer have an after work commute. And, if you aren’t living together you could FaceTime while you enjoy a drink!
Have a Movie Night
This is something Cole and I like to do whether we’re quarantined or not. Between Netflix, Crave, Prime Video, and more there is bound to be something you both want to see! Make it extra special by popping some popcorn, having a chocolatey treat on hand, and dimming the lights. It’s such a simple thing to do, but is still really nice! If you don’t live together, there apps you can use to watch the same movie virtually which could still be fun.
Create an Outdoor Bar
We actually did this over the weekend and it was so lovely! I made a spinach dip, which is Cole’s favourite restaurant appetizer, and we had a drink on the balcony while we watched the sunset. It was such a nice evening (probably one of my favourites we’ve had) and the perfect way to relax! We ended up sitting outside chatting until long after the sun went down and it was nice to change up the scenery. We also ended up having the leftover dip along with some fresh fruit on the balcony the following afternoon too! If you don’t have an outdoor space, you could still do this idea inside.
There are lots of things you can do to make quarantine a bit more fun. Other ideas would be to have a games night, get dressed up to have dinner at home, or even have an at-home karaoke night! While we definitely miss going to movie theatres and out to restaurants, I think we’ve been doing a pretty good job of staying entertained throughout this time. What have been your quarantine date night ideas?
