I’ve come a long way since my early days of wearing makeup. While I am still constantly learning new tips and tricks, I have gotten much better than I used to be when I first started wearing makeup. Today I thought it would be fun to share with you the beauty advice I would give to my teenage self now!
Lighten Up on the Eyeliner
Raccoon eyes don’t suit anyone, which was a lesson I had to learn the hard way. I was definitely guilty of wearing too much black eyeliner in my early high school days. At the time I didn’t think I was wearing that much, but looking back, it was definitely cringe worthy. I have small eyes to begin with so this just made them look smaller and it looked harsh.
Wash Your Face
It is SO important to wash your face every night. I used to fall asleep in my makeup almost every night as if anyone was going to see me past 9:00 pm. While this is something even on my most tired night I wouldn’t dream of skipping now, it was something I did on a regular basis until I was in my twenties.
Don’t Pick At Your Pimples
I had a fair bit of acne as a teenager and I was guilty of picking at my pimples a lot. Not only did this just make them worse, I now have some acne scarring on my chin that I have to deal with. As tempting as it can be, the long term results are so not worth it.
Develop a skincare routine and stick with it! Like I said before, washing my face was a rare occurrence in my teenage days. In the last 5+ years I have really gotten into skincare though and actually look forward to my daily cleansing routine. It is so important to take care of your skin before this point though. I wish I had forced myself to stick with a skincare regime in school, but better late than never, right?
I think we all have cringe worthy moments when it comes to our past beauty habits. While embarrassing, it’s kind of funny to look back on some of them. What is your most embarrassing beauty moment?
