The last week has been very challenging, in a good way. I have taken lots of time to listen, reflect, and educate myself on what is going on in the world and how I can be better moving forward. Being anti-racist is extremely important to me and while I’m happy to be back posting content, it is important that we don’t forget what this last week has taught us. I have read articles, had difficult conversations, and watched some enlightening movies/documentaries as I’m sure most of you have as well. It’s so crucial that we keep striving towards equality.
That being said, it’s okay to still take breaks and recharge your batteries sometimes. We need to in order to be the best versions of ourselves. If you have been feeling burnt out, stressed, sad, lonely, overwhelmed or a combination of it all right now, my hope is that these tips for brightening your mood will help lift your spirits, even if it’s just for a little while. Here are 3 things you can do today to brighten your mood:
Elevate Your Shower
Taking a hot shower can help improve your mood on its own, but playing spa music while you’re in the shower makes it even more relaxing. I started doing this a few months ago, and it was such a great decision! Spotify has some really great playlists, which makes things super easy. I tend to overthink in the shower or just go through the motions but by playing spa music, it allows me to slow down and really clear my head. I always leave the bathroom feeling like a completely different person!
Get Some Fresh Air
Getting fresh air also helps to clear the mind. The nice thing about this is you can get fresh air in all sorts of ways depending on your mood or the weather. You could go for a walk or run, go for a drive, or even have your morning coffee outside. I think fresh air every day is super important. Now that we have Nova I get outside daily, but before her I really noticed how “blah” I’d feel if I didn’t leave the apartment for a couple days.
Phone a Friend
Connecting with friends and family is so important, especially now. Give your best friend a call, even if it’s just for 15 minutes. It’ll give you both a chance to connect with a loved one and destress for a little bit. Not only will it brighten your mood, but it will brighten their’s too!
